Call for Late Submission Posters (Download )

Call for Papers (Download )

SCC is a biannual conference and organized by the Information Technology Society (ITG) of the Association for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies (VDE). The conference aims at bridging the gap between theory and applications as well as different communities working on communications.

The 14th SCC will take place in Karlsruhe, Germany, from March 10th to 13th, 2025.

We encourage contributions from both academia and industry presenting original work in various fields of communications like:

  • wireless communications (cellular, satellite, vehicular)
  • optical communications
  • sensor networks, Internet-of-Things (IoT) communications
  • industrial radio, low-latency & ultra-reliable communications
  • massive communications
  • cloud and fog-based RANs
  • distributed (storage) systems
  • communications and control

Topics of interest include but are not limited to

  • information theory
  • source and channel coding, semantic communications
  • communication theory and modulation formats
  • cryptography, privacy, and security
  • cooperative communications and network coding
  • machine learning for communications
  • energy efficient and sustainable communications
  • resource management and interference handling
  • localization and navigation, integrated sensing and communications
  • smart antennas and intelligent reflecting surfaces in communications
  • quantum information processing and quantum communications
  • molecular communications and biology-inspired data storage

The conference will feature a complimentary 4-hour tutorial on March 10th by Prof. Robert Schober on Synthetic Molecular Communications. Details can be found in the Program section of this paper

Late Submission Poster Presentation (New!)

We encourage contributions from both academia and industry presenting existing and/or early results, included results already published in journals or previous conferences.

We especially encourage students and junior researchers to participate. There will be no published proceedings. Extended abstracts (1 page maximum, double column, IEEE style file) for the poster session should be submitted via EDAS (link available soon here).

Note that presenting a poster does not require a full author registration; students (incl. PhD candidates) can still benefit from discounted registration fees.

The poster abstract submission system is open: Register and submit your poster abstract here.

Paper Submission

The workshop both compromises oral and poster presentations. All papers are peer-reviewed and the proceedings will be published on IEEE Xplore. Camera-ready versions of full-length papers can be up to 6 pages long.

Prospective authors are invited to submit full-length, six-page papers, including figures and references, in English and A4 paper format for peer review.

The paper submission system is closed.

Submission guidelines

Prospective authors are invited to submit high-quality original technical papers (max 6 pages, 10-point font size) for presentation at the conference and publication. Accepted and presented papers will be published in the SCC 2025 Proceedings and submitted to IEEE Xplore.

We reserve the right to exclude a paper from distribution after the conference (including its removal from IEEE Xplore) if the paper is not presented at the conference.

Papers are reviewed on the basis that they do not contain plagiarized material and have not been submitted to any other conference at the same time (double submission). These matters are taken very seriously and we will take action against any author who engages in either practice. Follow these links to learn more:

To be published in the SCC 2025 proceedings and to be eligible for publication in IEEE Xplore, an author of an accepted paper is required to register for the conference at the full rate and the paper must be presented by an author of that paper at the conference. Exceptions may be granted by the General Chairs prior to the event.

All papers should be submitted using the standard IEEE conference templates. The page length for regular paper submissions is six (6) printed pages in 10 point font and papers must be written in English. It is the authors’ responsibility to ensure that the author list, the paper title, and the abstract of the submitted pdf file matches the information entered on the submission system registration page exactly. Please be aware that the author list cannot be changed in the final manuscript.

Final Paper Upload

Important information

To be included in the SCC 2025 Conference Proceedings and IEEE Xplore, AT LEAST ONE AUTHOR of an accepted paper is required to register for the conference at the FULL rate by Wednesday, 22nd January 2025. As a reminder, one (1) registration can be used to upload up to one (1) final paper on which you are an author.

A registration confirmation code can be associated only to a single paper in which the registrant is an author or co-author. Violation of this rule, such as associating a registration code with a paper not authored by the registrant or associating a registration code with multiple papers, is considered a serious offense.

The conference proceedings will be include in IEEE Xplore Publications. At least one author per accepted paper must register for the conference and attend the conference to present their paper in-person. Papers that are not presented by one of the authors will not be published in IEEE Xplore. Exceptions might be granted by the General Chairs prior to the event.

IEEE reserves the right to exclude a submission from distribution after the conference, including exclusion from IEEE Xplore if the submission does not meet IEEE standards for scope and/or quality. Articles excluded from further distribution shall be archived by IEEE but shall not be indexed or appear on IEEE Xplore.

Accepted papers

The final manuscript is due by Wednesday, 22nd January 2025. Submitting your final manuscript requires the following steps:

  1. Register for the conference.
  2. At least one author per accepted paper must register before the deadline. One full registration covers at most one paper. Failure to register before the deadline will result in the withdrawal of the paper from the conference program and the proceedings. After successful registration, a confirmation number will be provided. Please enter this number in the "Registration code" dialog in EDAS.

  3. Complete the electronic copyright form.
  4. Before uploading the final paper, IEEE’s electronic copyright form must be completed through EDAS. To access the copyright form, select the icon in the copyright column within your paper record. IEEE enforces strict copyright rules and no paper will be published without the submitted copyright form.

  5. Generate an IEEE Xplore compliant PDF file using PDF Xpress.
  6. While preparing the final version of your paper, please make sure to read the reviews of your paper and consider the reviewers’ recommendations for revising it. The manuscript must be formatted according to the submission guidelines. Metadata in EDAS, i.e., the author list, paper title, and abstract must match the final manuscript. All final manuscripts must be generated using the IEEE PDF eXpress tool. The conference ID is 62907X.

  7. Upload your paper.
  8. To upload your final manuscript, please go to EDAS and upload the IEEE PDF eXpress generated PDF file as “Final manuscript” by selecting the upload icon. Verify the EDAS metadata against your manuscript and make sure EDAS does not display any manuscript-related errors. Important copyright notice for web and Internet posting Signing the IEEE Copyright Form transfers ownership of your accepted paper to IEEE. IEEE grants authors limited permission to post their paper online. Please make sure to read and understand IEEE’s policies at https://conferences.ieeeauthorcenter.ieee.org/author-ethics/guidelines-and-policies/post-publication-policies/.
